Architecture and Design

The “Contemporary” style embraces minimalistic elements, highlighting greys, beiges and shades of white. It has sleek, thoughtful hidden details with everything in its place, featuring designs based on function and simplicity, defined by clean lines, minimal decoration and current trends.

This interior design aesthetic has evolved since 1970 and now holds many trends that reflect a general desire to create environments that are visually pleasing, sustainable, and capable of arousing positive emotions.

Finishing Products

Our team has been building spec homes and testing products from different suppliers while designing Product Guides which are obtainable in Step 1 (Consult and Estimate) of the process list the cabinetry, appliances and accessories, including options to mix and match for each feature of the Modular's Interior such as; Bench-tops, cabinetry, and flooring.

We bring a three-tier finishing pack system available for each Floor plan.

Simple: Minimal quantity of cabinetry, appliances and accessories, bringing an entry-level option to the Floor plan and design, leaving the majority of the interior to adapt to your requirements after the build is complete for a quick turn-around time.

Premium: Medium quantity of cabinetry, appliances and accessories, this option brings more storage and functionality to the design, but not much is needed to complete this interior.

Superior: An abundance of cabinetry and storage solutions for further functionality and appliances, this product guide brings highly recommended options from our suppliers, and each upgrade option brings an additional charge and is now considered a custom build.

As "Custom Builders" we're always open to your new ideas or your preferred products for your project, we are not limited to only using our preferred products; we're here to build YOUR dream home, and this can be discussed during the design planning stage, as a default our projects are first initially estimated to the Premium package, unless mentioned otherwise.

Stone and Wood Concept

Our Superior Product Guide offers wooden slats or cladding options to match visual interest as well as laminate or stone bench tops and tiles.

Cyclone Compliance

Tropical cyclones can develop over oceans in the Northern coasts of Australia producing very strong winds, storm surge, heavy rainfall and flooding.

Vikal’s products are used in locations that vary in Wind Loading Regions; A, B, C & D.

With doors, windows and glass vulnerable to damage from winds, wind-borne debris and high-internal pressures which can increase the risk of your roof blowing off, at Vikal we ensure all materials are built to the Cyclone Rating requirements and comply with the Australian Standards and securely fastened to the building structure.

For an example see Karratha’s Cyclone Preparedness Guide.

BAL (Bushfire) Compliance

Vikal’s products are used in locations with varying bushfire attack levels (BALs). A BAL is a means of measuring a building’s potential exposure to radiant heat, ember attack or direct flame contact. The higher the BAL, the more likely the building is to risk damage during a bushfire.

Vikal ensures BAL compliance by using tested products, and by applying the “deemed to satisfy” rules set out in the NCC (National Construction Code). Oftentimes, this means installing additional fire blankets, adding toughened glazing and changing the type of material and frames used.

We only require that customers inform us ahead of time of the BAL level of their house. With this information, we can make sure to provide products that comply with safety standards.

You can visit WA Bal Report for more information.

Sustainability

Meaning: “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

Creating sustainable architecture and design is important in reducing the environmental impact of construction and living. The main goal is to reduce carbon commissions generated from the construction and operations by considering the:

  • Embodies energy; manufacturing, materials, transportation, etc

  • Operational energy, emissions produced from living in and operating the building.

  • Passive solar design, taking advantage of the sun, wind and shade from natural resources.

  • Energy Efficiency, consume less energy such as solar, well insulated and/or double glazing.

Ask us about the Superior Sustainable Architecture and Design options such as; double glazing, solar hot water system, solar panel system and off-grid integration.
