Vikal’s products are used in locations with varying bushfire attack levels (BALs). A BAL is a means of measuring a building’s potential exposure to radiant heat, ember attack or direct flame contact. The higher the BAL, the more likely the building is to risk damage during a bushfire.
Vikal ensures BAL compliance by using tested products, and by applying the “deemed to satisfy” rules set out in the NCC (National Construction Code). Oftentimes, this means installing additional fire blankets, adding toughened glazing and changing the type of material and frames used.
We only require that customers inform us ahead of time of the BAL level of their house. With this information, we can make sure to provide products that comply with safety standards.
